Should i get new vegas

The level of violence is similar to Skyrim, a similar game in all aspects. The game is in no way glorifying violence, and is in no way a shoot-em-up. Parents must think about their child and their understanding of how violence must not be tolerated. Though the actual combat is not abundantly gruesome hand to hand fighting, the violence is present and in no way entirely avoidable.

The sex is scarce and though prostitution is present in one of the regions, it is not accepted anywhere else. The prostitutes can be talked with but that is the extent of any interaction. Their clothing is revealing and 'slutty' but there is no real nudity throughout the game.

The only other concern is alcohol and drugs. The drugs can be taken but in addition to the blurred screen, mimicking the real life effects, the player can become addicted and they can have bad consequences.

The view of drugs is that they are fun but this is an extremely small part of the game. Overall this is an amazing game and your child will have lots of fun on this.

The game is segmented into quests and can be saved quickly so youre child can easily be taken off of it. I hope you found this helpful :. This review Helped me decide 3. Had useful details 4. We're a religious family with some moderate rules, so we went exploring our options.

We found this website to gain some insight, and it gave a quite a scare. We told him no, but he begged us to just give it a chance. We reluctantly agreed, saying he could play only with us there. As I watched for a little while, i started playing for myself. I soon realized "Common sense" doesn't do New Vegas a bit of justice. However, it was the complaints of violence and addiction that bother me. Violence can be turned off along with the kill cam. Besides that, some blood can be seen in the background and some disturbing elements in the environment.

The game does involve substances like alcohol and "chems", but it also involves these hopeless poor chem addicts who serve as the lowest class in the game. They have druggies, yes, but they are NOT glorified. If you get addicted to chems your performance is hindered to the point where it's dramatically not worth it. It's a lesson in itself.

Im still playing this game 3 months later, and I'm only back to this website to defend a title that was clearly misrepresented. As long as your kid understands the difference between reality and fantasy, its a fun game for anyone Helped me decide 2. Had useful details. Read my mind. Parent Written by John D. December 25, Somewhat violent, minimal use of drugs, but still prevalent, and will keep your kid happy for days.

This is a great game, I have played it all the way through to make sure it is okay for my kid. I highly recommend it to anyone's kids who are teenagers. There is violence and drugs, but the message is still clear: Be a good person and have good morals.

The game is really difficult to play, but if you are familiar with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen then Fallout shouldn't be too dificult for you. Graphics mods for Bethesda games are practically a staple, and New Vegas gets the love with this particular texture pack that helps inject vibrancy and clarity into a very old game. This is a global texture replacer that handles everything related to the environment, buildings, interiors, vehicles, and other decor items.

This makes it easy for beginner modders to enhance the game with a single package as opposed to picking and choosing from hundreds of texture mods. This is definitely one of the best!

In a rare departure, Obsidian took inspiration from a Fallout 3 mod created by Antistar and applied a weapons mod system to Fallout: New Vegas. The mod author decided to show his gratitude by expanding on their take. This mod adds several weapons to the game while overhauling the weapon mod slots in the process. Mods can also be removed from existing weapons if desired. Crafters and gun tinkerers will love what the mod offers to the game's base formula, which is a step up from what the vanilla game has to offer.

It's obvious that Fallout: New Vegas is showing its age in comparison to other games which have aged more gracefully , and modders have charged to the rescue in an attempt to prolong its palatability. Fallout Character Overhaul does a great job in this department by refreshing the game's characters in a big way.

In addition to high-quality new head meshes, this mod also layers on some beautiful high-resolution texture maps, eye textures, and so on. Everything from teeth to eyelashes have been given a massive bump in quality, which should go a long way to making the characters a bit less harsh on the eyes. Though it sounds like a mod focused on increasing the game's difficulty, A World Of Pain is actually a mod that adds new locations such as subway tunnels, buildings, and spooky vaults to the New Vegas game world, and this goes a long way to expanding the game's level of content.

There's loot to be found in everything from small gas stations to abandoned factories. There's a mixture of questlines, NPCs, and bone-crushing enemies to encounter, as well, making the game as challenging as it is explorative. Mods like this extend the life of a playthroughand shouldn't be missed. Alternate Start mods are nothing new to gamers who have experience with Bethesda games. In fact, they often rank high as one of the most popular mods specifically because they allow players to bypass the opening parts of a game and pre-establish their own roleplaying storyline.

Particularly with Fallout, I was hopelessly addicted to its premise, too. With New Vegas in particular, it was fascinating to watch extremist groups flourish and war with each other in the wake of an apocalypse, and study what aspects of society they decided to rebuild or leave behind. Framing this situation against a monument to human excess — The Las Vegas Strip — made for one hell of an atmosphere. Fallout: New Vegas. Credit: Obisidian Entertainment. Instead of monochrome choices which doom or venerate gangs, you take part in smaller scale operations in the Mojave that explore their intentions and motivations prior to any ultimatums.

This helps you understand the organization at large and feel a greater sense of place in the world. The Powder Gangers are presented as the ultimate antagonists at first, harassing an innocent town in Goodsprings to settle a score. But as you make your way to Primm, you start to realise that the dynamic in New Vegas is really not that simple.

For the player, it proves more difficult and thankless to work with the NCR to restore order than it is to solve the problem yourself — in the end, they bring high taxes and overbearing rule to the struggling, innocent residents.
