Where to find ghastly in silver

A move that badly poisons the target. Self-hypnosis move that copies the foe's stats changes, then applies them to the user. Makes the weather sunny for five turns. Has a one-in-three chance of making the target flinch. Completely foils an opponent's attack. Summons rain for five turns. Half of the HP drained from the target is added to the attacker's HP.

With the exception of a few odd Hoothoots, the "Sage" trainers here are using nothing but Grass-type Bellsprouts, so you should have no trouble if you stick to flying Pokemon like Pidgey and Spearow or the Fire-type Cyndaquil, provided you chose it to start with.

Although the tower is infested with Rattatas during the day, this place is haunted and at night you might be able to catch a Gastly.

Make sure you take the time to catch one, not only to fill up your Pokedex, but also because this Ghost-type Pokemon is much improved from earlier versions of the game; it learns techniques such as Mean Look that make it very helpful when catching wild Pokemon. On the plus side for Crystal players, this is a great opportunity to catch one, since they appear more frequently here than they did on Route Virtually all of the trainers are packing Bellsprouts. If you chose Cyndaquil as your starter, you'll have no problem burning through them. Other players will want to use a good Flyer.

Crystal players can pick up a Spearow from Route 46 , which starts with Flying-type Peck, and Hoothoot can learn it at level Pidgey's Gust, which it learns at level 9, is equally effective. For Gold and Silver players, this will be your first chance to catch a Gastly.

Its Ghost-type nature makes it immune to Normal and Fighting-type attacks, but its real strength lies in its utility on the field. Getting one isn't easy. You have to come to the tower at night, and can only damage it with Type attacks like Rock Throw and Vine Whip. But it's well worth the trouble. The third floor has several monks and their leader, the Elder.
