Everquest where can you bind

I would actually remove the concept of binding all together. When a player dies and releases they should go the closest spiritual magnet and reform there. They can be stone rings or magic circles or temple alters based on where they are at when they died.

The locations can all be considered neutral and safe while naked. An added caveat would be that areas would have natural flows such that you could not jump forward by intentionally dying. The benefit of this is that the party will always reform together when they die and can travel back together. These stones will also become locations for player interaction i.

This is a good question as I only just realized that EQ1 changed the way binding works. It was so convenient to be able to bind in Dagnor's Cauldron to make my Unrest farming much more efficient. But now you can only bind in cities. Which is kinda lame cause most cities have a spirit binder anyway.

I think if you're a caster that has an ability to bind, you should be able to bind yourself pretty much anywhere. And you can bind other people anywhere as well. This also opens up an opportunity for providing a service for plat, and therefore just more player interaction. Hard to tell if being able to bind anywhere would be TOO convenient and decrease the fear of dying. But I guess that's something we'd just hafta see in testing.

This goes for various abilities that can provide services. If I'm a solo, non-binding class, I either put up with the run or find a binder. Same for ports, etc. It's nice to find a thread with a proper Topic Title. It made it real easy to use the search and to find it. Honestly im find with Casters being able to bind themselves, but i believe the non casters should be able to be bound anywhere a caster can simpy so when it coes to something as simple as this the casters dont have that huge of an advantage over other classes, but one thing i wouldnt want to see if being able to bind yourself in a dungeon, anywhere not even at the entrance.

Not sure I care for the idea of non-bind classes being able to be bound anywhere a bind class can, but I'd be ok with more than just cities for non-binding classes, like maybe at portal location Druid rings, wizard spires type things , or some sort of ruins in some regions not all regions , so your non-bind classes aren't traversing for extreme times.

Personally I'm for all or none to keep the death penalty fair. Always thought it was odd that generally classes that could bind were just limited by losing their equipment e. However lots of Ex EQ players are knocking on a bit now with all the responsibilities that comes with so IMO all classes should get out of combat gate back to bind out of the box.

Still saying all this it's sounds like is generally full group focussed so there has to be some mechanism to bring players together quickly.. A caster was never able to bind at the spot they died unless it was just outside of Cazic Thule for example..

Casters if they die far from their bind point.. And they were vulnerable, because they didn't have the hit points that melee have It adds to the class interdependency and makes it so corpse runs an actual part of the death punishment sometimes , otherwise everyone in the group binds outside a dungeon or heaven forbid a safe spot IN the dungeon and wipes are no problem at all.

I'd rather you need someone with res or summon to be able to negate corpse runs. I'm all for old school hardcore gameplay and corpse runs and penalties for failed risks, but there's no logical reason that a melee class shouldn't be allowed to bind wherever a "caster" class can.

It's logical-ish in EQ because auto attack required no resources, whereas a freshly rezzed caster was worth exactly zero dps. Cause I was annoyed that I could bind, but couldn't Gate.

OK I've been playing the game for a decade on and off. When did this change? I've attempted to bind in zones that I know I previously was able to do this since my return, and now I keep getting the message that I need to try a city. Or new unwelcome feature? So in order to cast on someone you have to be in a group Frardrok Loc. Cleric seller. Vicar Delin in Pok Library also sells this spell.

Darksilvertip View User Forum. Also sells from Bind Affinity. Loc: 23, And btw Here it is. Vicar Delin in Plane of Knowledge is the most accessible vendor that sells this spell.

However, I know that I could bind in Karnor's Castle, for example, so Bind Affinity wasn't limited to only outdoor zones or cities. Chardok is another one I know I used to bind in non-keyed dungeon.

My wife played a druid on Live from Kunark until a few expansions past PoP as well, and she remembers binding in at least some dungeons as well. I used to have a list of safe spots in certain dungeons where I could bind and zap some mobs for tradeable loot, but that was at least 14 years ago when I stopped playing EQ altogether and I don't have it unfortunately. Another oddity. My daughter brought her cleric with us to Sebilis, and she was getting the "try a city" message 3 times when she tried to bind at the glowing ball that you click to zone in.

She moved her character around to the other side and was able to bind, which was weird. I remember binding in that room many times on Live in various places in that room and never getting that message. I know non-casters could only be bound in certain places, but this was not the case on Live for casters for the most part outside of certain places.

Keyed zones like Sleepers I'm almost positive a Wiz or other caster could not bind in, but a lot of dungeons I could on Live. Any feedback is appreciated. Then either in Luclin or PoP they reversed the nerf as they deemed either Nexus or PoK made the nerf irrelevant since those are better travel options. I forget which but Timorous should be bindable. Gotta go plane of mischief, it's a real pain to get there, and if you like to mess around in there and get the flowers of functionality and stuff like that, then PoM is THE place to be when velious comes out. For kunark, obviously if its doable, the firepots.

But outside of that I'd have to say Dreadlands is a pretty good spot. It's very centrally located, with everything but a few zones away. Is it even possible to get to PoMischief without being in a rather large raid group, though, seeing how it's gonna be in its original spot at the back of NToV, where all the hostile dragons are?

Posted: Tue Feb 19, pm. On my server, once my guild had cleared NToV, one of the lower guilds used a few warriors that ran in with their riposte discipline going and when they died, a monk with a rez stick feign hopped them all the way to the zone in. They also had a magician or necro, I don't remember if CoH worked in NToV or not and a cleric to help rez and summon a bunch of other people.

The hardest part of getting there for non-raiding guilds were the flurry drakes. Once you got past them, the hallway that PoM's portal sat in was pretty empty. Maybe one roamer, but you could avoid it by hugging the corner, if I recall. I forsee a lot of TD responses showing up. Probably should have said to assume that binding in TD was never allowed.

As a druid I gave it no real thought; wherever was convenient to where I was xping at the time. I actually kept myself bound in Gfay a lot to be able to gate back to continue selling stuff if I ported someone.

That convenience is hard to not miss when you're without it. Yeah, I did that as a wizard too. Especially when grinding Treants in the Karana's. I would bind just out of range of them where I was safe and no roamers ever, except a random lion that I could melee to death.

Then I would just gate to Nektulos and run into the city, sell my crap and gate back to the Treants. Sometimes, if I was really quick, both hadn't respawned, and I could quickly kill the solo ent and then stagger my camp again. Probably just going to be binding at any safe area close to where I'm operating at the time.
